Mrs. Nissen’s Beautiful Christmas Voices
By:Myranda
At Montessori, we always do a Christmas concert. This year’s is a lot harder than any other. The concert is call, “Yankee Doodle’s Dandy Christmas”. In this concert there are solos, acting parts, and grades first through fourth have to sing and do actions all together. Some of the songs are: “Welcome To America”, “Yankee Doodle Has A Toothache”,”Yuletide Blues”,” The Christmas Spirit Lives Right Here”, and” Merry Christmas To You From The Red, White, and Blue”.
We have been working hard on memorizing our acting parts and solos. Everyone in our fourth grade class has an acting part. We have our concert on December third. There are four kids singing solos. Our solos go with the song: “The Christmas Spirit Lives Right Here”. There are two girls and two boys. The boys are Carter R. and Dawson. The girls are myself, Myranda, and Macy. Dawson sings first. He sings: “Look around you brother, look around you friend”. After Dawson sings Macy sings. She sings: “Look around you will see the Christmas Spirit begin”. After Macy everybody sings. The other kids stop and I sing:” Look around you daughter, look around son”. Finally Carter sings:” Look around you will see the Christmas joy begin”. When he finishes, everybody sings again. At the end all the soloists sing together, we sing: “The Christmas spirit lives right here, inside of you and me”.
Our Christmas Concert is going to be fantastic. I think everybody will do GREAT!!

ADVENTURE 15
By Macy
On November 19, a Thursday, we hung out with two classes, one from California and the other from Toronto, Canada. We all had to research or do something about Nebraska, Norfolk, or the United States. We talked about the things my class researched. Then, my class listened to the other classes tell about themselves. My class hung out with them by doing a google hang out. That is where you see them on a computer. We had a fantastic time! That is Adventure 15.

Our Aquatic Animals
By Audrey
A few weeks ago, my fourth grade classmates and I studied animals that live in the ocean. We all wrote down our facts on a small poster. Most of the sea creatures that people were researching I didn’t even know existed! Some were the Black Swallower, the Lippard Fish, and Tube Worms.
Next, we drew big pictures of our animals, colored them, and cut them out. Some students helped tape the animals onto our mural. The mural included the zones of the ocean. We added some extra things like coral and seaweed and Ta-Daa! Our ocean mural was complete.

Not Everyone Can Hear
Our fourth grade class has started learning sign language. We started learning sign language during deaf awareness week. We started practicing our names. Once we got that done, our teacher told us to work on the alphabet. When we were practicing, our teacher put on a video of a girl talking in sign language. Another video we watched was about a deaf school in Texas. We also watched a video on our smart board about two kids communicating in sign language.

We're Drug Free
Our school is taking part in red ribbon week. On Monday, our school wore red clothes. The reason we wore red is because we were RED'y to be drug free. On Tuesday, the whole school wore mismatched clothes. The motto was drugs can't mix me up. On Wednesday, our school wore crazy socks. The reason we wore crazy socks is because we were socking it to drugs. On Thursday, everybody wore bright colors. The motto for Thursday is we are to bright for drugs. On Friday, we were teaming up on drugs by wearing team clothing. On Saturday is the red ribbon run at the Sunset Plaza.

THE EXPO
Our class went to an expo in Madison. At the Expo there were games that help you learn different things. One taught you about electricity. It was Pac Man except instead of a keyboard there was a wire and if you touch one, that’s the way you go like up and down, left and right. There were much more like construction and mining, and also some science. There was a thing where you put on glasses and it made it all blurry. You had to drive a kart around cones while wearing the blurry glasses. This showed you what it was like to drink while driving. -Carter.J |
